LEICESTER HOCKEY CLUB TO BE AWARDED FREEDOM OF THE CITY

Hockey-ClubLeicester Hockey Club, one of the oldest and most successful women’s hockey clubs in England, has been nominated for the freedom of the city of Leicester by deputy city mayor Cllr Rory Palmer.

Previous recipients of the freedom of the city include Gary Lineker, Leicester Tigers, author Sue Townsend and the 9th/12th Royal Lancers regiment.

Club secretary Gaynor Nash said: “We’re delighted to be receiving the freedom of the city – it’s a real honour. We’re proud of the fact that we’ve produced many local role models for Leicester and worked hard to develop the junior game.”
