The Leicestershire public voted with their feet as Leicester Market’s new Food Hall and Food & Drink Festival were greeted as an overwhelming triumph last weekend.

Hundreds of people attended the Food Hall opening, next to the Corn Exchange in Leicester Market on Friday, and were joined by Leicester Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby at the stunning glass and timber building made specifically to house existing food hall traders.

The grand opening was followed on Sunday by the fifth annual Food & Drink Festival, with over 150 stalls serving a vast array of tasty treats and drinks to thousands of visitors, who also enjoyed live entertainment and food demonstrations from TV chef Andy Bates of Brazilian Street Feasts.

The Food Hall will be open 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm on Saturdays and will be closed on Sundays. For more information on Leicester Market, please visit
