ACTIVE AGEING WEEK STARTS THIS FRIDAY

Leicester-Shire & Rutland’s fourth annual ‘Active Ageing Week’ begins this Friday (September 20th) and will continue until Sunday September 29th.

A wide range of physical activity sessions will be taking place, all designed to inspire and engage local people, resulting in health and wellbeing benefits.

LR SPORT ANNUAL REVIEW

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport have recently launched two documents which showcase their achievements and plans for the future.

The LRS Annual Review 2012/13 highlights and reflects upon the once in a lifetime opportunity presented by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the legacy journey that continues beyond 2012.


OLYMPIC LEGACY THRIVING LOCALLY

Statistics announced by Sport England last Friday (July 26th), which marked a year since the beginning of the London 2012 Olympic Games, revealed that over 6,500 teenagers and young adults attended a Sportivate session throughout Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland in the last 12 months.


SCHOOL GAMES SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FOCUS

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games Summer Championships, which took place at Uppingham School on Friday, were another great success.

BBC East Midlands Today were in attendance to capture 1,000 talented young athletes from across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, representing over 125 teams and 75 different schools in 9 different sports.
